Office of Second Amendment Advocacy
Instead of eliminating President Joe Biden’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention, I recommend renaming it to the Office of Second Amendment Advocacy where we embrace the Second Amendment instead of demonizing it.
First and foremost, there is no such thing as gun violence just like a murder using a knife is not knife violence or when a car is used to run someone over it is not car violence. The best common sense and logical path to overcome the use of guns by people in violent acts of crime is to:
• create an environment where firearms carry is a common place occurrence,
• educate the public in the proper handling and use of firearms,
• draft proposed legislation and remove unconstitutional regulations to further Americans Second Amendment right, and
• invoke stricter penalties and mandatory sentences for those that possess or use a firearm illegally.
CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE FIREARMS CARRY IS A COMMON PLACE OCCURRENCE
Why have an environment that promotes firearms carry as common place? It has been proven that when criminals know that there is the likelihood of the potential victim having a firearm, the criminal will look elsewhere to commit their crime. In addition, even though our law enforcement is good at their jobs, they cannot be everywhere, and the safest protection is self-protection. If the potential victim has a firearm, they are less likely to display a sense of helplessness and thus are no longer a victim.
EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN THE PROPER HANDLING AND USE OF FIREARMS
I believe education is one of the basic keys to solving a majority of the problems we have. Creating a partnership with the community college systems throughout the country to develop standardized courses enables us to:
Educate the public on:
1 - The constitutional meaning of the Second Amendment
2 - The history of the Second Amendment
Train the public in:
1 - The safe and proper use of firearms
2 - Basic firearms marksmanship
In conjunction with the community colleges, creating partnerships with corporations and individuals to develop mobile training sites for live fire training will enhance the education of the public.
DRAFT PROPOSED LEGISLATION AND REMOVE UNCONSTITUTIONAL REGULATIONS TO FURTHER AMERICANS SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT
With the help of Second Amendment social media influencers, draft proposed legislation to remove infringing laws and onerous regulations that are strangling the legal ownership of firearms and the related accessories that render the firearms safer and easier to properly and accurately use.
In addition, recommend changes to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) current policies. Such changes as doing away with the zero tolerance policy for FFL licensees especially for obvious clerical errors or drafting an uncomplicated process for an FFL that has had their license revoked or not renewed within the past four years, to have their case reviewed for possible reinstatement of their license or doing away with the firearms parts treatment as a firearm.
INVOKE STRICTER PENALTIES AND MANDATORY SENTENCES FOR THOSE THAT POSSESS OR USE A FIREARM ILLEGALLY
Too many times criminals are allowed to negotiate away their firearms related charges or the prosecutors will drop or reduce the charges so that the penalties associate are negated. This only leads to the criminals mindset that nothing will happen to them if they have a firearm, and they end up with reoccurring firearms charges. We are at a point now that we cannot tolerate this type of judicial negligence anymore.
We need stricter penalties and mandatory sentences that cannot be reduced by discretion of those in the judicial process. With the help of Second Amendment legal experts and law enforcement, recommend new sentencing guidelines.
